The P7M13 is a 9mm pistol similar tothe P7M8 except it has a double-stack Magazine that holds 13rounds. This gives it a wider grip similar to the P7M10.
Further manufacture of the 13 round magazinesis banned in the USA. The P7M10 magazine is still legal to manufactureand is almost identical. It can be used in the P7M13 filledwith 13 rounds of 9mm vs. the 10 rounds of .40 SW it is designed for.
The M13 debuted in 1982 with prototypeserial numbers from 001 to 059. Production serial numbers as of January,1993 run from 71101 M13 to 89600 M13. The P7M13 is still in productionas of 3/00, but US sales are limited to law enforcement only due to themagazine capacity.
The P7M13 has a gas-retarded action anda polygon bore barrel.

This side says HK Inc. Sterling VA, despite the CCF frame markings. It appears to be part of the stamp that puts the HK logo on. Note that only the serial number, date code, and proofing marks are through the bluing. On the USA Model, The Sterling VA is stamped through the bluing.
- Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “HECKLER & KOCH GMBH / OBERNDORF/N MADE IN GERMANY”, “9mmx19”, the right is marked with the serial number, eagle over “N” proof and “Hk INC ARL VA 22201”. The right side of the frame is marked with the serial number, eagle over “N”, date code and Ulm antler.
- The ones in 2008-2009 were P7 PSPs that were surplus imported by HK in Columbus, GA. They were the last of the surplus PSP to come into the country via HK. The first round came with a Trussville, AL import stamp.They did not have the heat shield and were graded by internal wear from A-C.

In 1983, H&K designed a variant forthe Mexican Government, who had asked for an external safety. Itwas designed with an external sliding safety on the right side of the frameas shown below. Sliding it to the rear revealed a white 0. Sliding it forward covered the 0 and left the red 1 visible. The DIM on the left grip panel stands for 'Depto. Ind.Mil',and is stamped on the left side of the slide as well. The serialseries for this version was 10000 to 13000.

The P7K3 is the most recent and smallestmember of the P7 family.
Through the use of caliber conversion kits,each gun can be converted to three different calibers (Kalibers3). Unlike the fixed barrel of the larger guns, the P7K3 barrel is held inplace in the frame by a barrel nut. It can be removed and exchangedfor a barrel of a different caliber. The barrels have polygon profilebores.
When converting to .22 LR, which is a rimfire round, the whole slide must also be exchanged. This second slideis part of the .22 LR conversion kit. The .22 LR conversion barrelhas an unusual 'piston' in the end of the barrel with the actual .22 chamberin this piston, When the gun fires the chamber pressure is appliedto the entire area of the piston, and not just the cartridge. Thisprovides sufficient force to cycle the action.
The P7K3 has an inertia blow-back action,unlike the gas-retarded action of the P7M8, etc. It uses uses a hydraulicslide buffer in place of the gas-retarding piston of the larger guns inthe family. A gauge is supplied with the gun to see if the littlebuffer piston is still sticking out far enough. If it isn't, thenit is worn out. The piston could be replaced if HK would sell orgive you one -- but they typically won't, so the gun is junk at that point.Checkthis when buying.

Conversion Kits
The caliber conversion kits for the P7K3come in a box like this.
This one holds both a .32 kit and a .22LR kit. The .22 LR kit also includes a new slide, and a cleaningtool.
.22 LR Conversion
The conversion has a new slide to allowthe use of rim fire (vs. center fire) ammo.
The barrel is a bit unusual in that ithas a floating piston built into the end. A scraper tool is suppliedto scrape powder residue from the end of the barrel where the piston fitsand from the piston.
When the round fires, the chamber pressureis applied to not just the area of the .22 LR cartridge head, but the areaof the whole piston. This generates a much higher force, which givesexcellent cycling with the .22 LR round. It is much better that it'spredecessor (the HK4) which required hot ammo and a firm grip.
Variations
There are two variations of the P7K3 thatI know of (and have owned), the USA Model and the German Model. TheUSA Model was the only one imported by H&K themselves -- other importerssuch as CCF imported the German Model.
German Model:
The gun comes with two magazines, thebarrel changing tool, a plastic box with the gun's serial number embossed,a manual and test target.
